Larry Shenk’s Phillies Minor League Report is a regular feature at Phillies Nation

“The Baron” is the former Philadelphia Phillies head of community relations, a role in which he served the organization for more than four decades. Larry is also a 2018 inductee to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.

In addition to the Phillies alumni and history work which Larry shares with readers here at Phillies Nation, his “Minor League Report” pieces now also run with us all during the season as well.

Lehigh Valley, International League North Division

**IronPigs (39–41) used 3 two-run homers in defeating the Buffalo Bisons, 6–4, in Sahlen Field. Victory was 4th straight . . . Series continues at 7:05 tonight.

Pitching: No decision for starter Tyler Viza, 3.2–6–3–3–2–4 . . . WP: Tom Windle (6–1), 2–0–0–0–2–3 . . . Brogdon Connor, 1.1–1–0–0–0–3, wild pitch . . . SV: Tyler Gilbert (1), 2–2–1–1–0–0, HR.

Hitting: Six different batters had 1 hit each . . . 2-run homers: RF Jen Hernandez (8), 2nd inning; LF Nick Williams (#3), 3rd inning; DH Ali Castillo (4), 6th inning . . . Williams is hitting .410 and has homered in back-to-back games. Dating back to 2017, Williams has hit in 20 straight games at LV.

NOTES: Deivy Grullon will be participating in the AAA home run hitting contest next week in El Paso . . . OF Lane Adams was released.

Reading, Eastern League Eastern Division [39–28, 2nd place, 1st half]

**Fightin Phils (8–6) lost as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats scored a pair of runs in 5th, 7th and 9th innings in winning 7–5 at America’s Classic Ballpark. Loss ended a 4-game winning streak . . . 5:30 doubleheader (7-inning games) tonight.

Pitching: No decision for starter Mauricio Llovera, 4.2–3–3–2–3–5, HR, hit batter . . . Aaron Brown, 2–2–2–0–1–5 . . . Grant Dyer, 1.1–1–0–0–2–1 . . . LP: Addison Russ (1–5), 1–3–2–2–0–2.

Hitting: LF Luke Williams, 2–4, 2 runs, HR (5), 2 RBI . . . 1B Darick Hall, 2–3, 2 walks, run, RBI . . . 2B Jose Gomez, 2–4, RBI . . . RF Cornelius Randolph, 2–4 . . . 3B Alec Bohm, 2–5, run, triple . . . Mickey Moniak is day-to-day with a hamstring issue.

Note: Mike Rains was the home plate umpire but it never rained.

Clearwater, Florida State League North Division [36–30, 2nd place, 1st half]

**Threshers (10–4) saw their 4-game winning streak come to an end by the Fort Myers Miracle, 6–0, at Spectrum Field. Leading 1–0, Fort Myers put the game away with 4 unearned runs in the 7th . . . Game 2, 7:00 tonight.

Pitching: Starter and loser Alejandro Requena (6–5), 6–3–1–1–2–4.

Hitting: DH Matt Vierling, 3 of Clearwater’s 5 singles, 22nd club-high multi-hit game of the season. Also stole 16th base, most on the club.

Lakewood, South Atlantic League North Division [29–41, 1st half]

**BlueClaws (4–8) shut out the Delmarva Shorebirds, 3–0, at FirstEnergy Park. Fifth shutout of the season. Only their 2nd win in 12 games against the Birds . . . 3-game series continues at 7:05 tonight.

Pitching: WP: Victor Santos (4–6), 5–2–0–0–0–3, hit batter . . . SV: Francisco Morales (1), 4–1–0–0–1–5. Both are teenagers.

Hitting: LF Cole Stobbe, 2–4, run, 2 doubles, RBI . . . 2B Luis Garcia, 2–4.

Williamsport, New York-Penn League Pinckney Division

**Crosscutters (4–13) broke out with 10 hits (5 extra-base knocks) in handing the Mahoning Valley Scrappers a 9–1 loss BB&T Ballpark . . . Two teams meet again, 7:05 tonight.

Pitching: Four pitchers combed on allowing 6 singles while striking out 13 . . . No decision for starter Junior Tejada, 4–3–0–0–1–7 . . . WP: Omar Maldonado (1–0), pitching 1 inning.

Hitting: Scored 3 in the 4th and broke it open with 5 in the 5th . . . CF Corbin Williams, 3–4, run . . . 2B Kendall Simmons, 2–3, walk, 2 runs . . . DH Juan Aparicio, 1–4, run, double, 3 RBI . . . 3B McCarthy Tatum, 1–3, run, triple, 2 RBI . . . C Logan O’Hoppe, 1–3, walk, run, HR (1), 2 RBI.

**West (4–2) blanked Tigers East at Carpenter Complex, 2–0 . . . Five pitchers combined on a 2-hitter (both singles, walked 1 and struck out 13). Connor Seabold, 2nd rehab start, 3–1–0–0–0–5. WP: Luis Pacheco (1–0), 3–1–0–0–0–1–4 . . . Offense had 3 hits, single, double, triple . . . RBI each for 1B Rixon Wingrove, 3B Edgar Made . . . Yankees East visit Carpenter Complex at 12 noon today.

**East (2–3) used an 18-hit attack in winning, 11–6, over the Yankees West in Tampa . . . 3 hits each for LF Jevi Hernandez, 2B Guarner Dipre, 3B Curtis Mead. Homers: DH Mitchel Edwards (1), 4 RBI; C Cesar Rodriguez (1) . . . Six different pitchers were used. WP: Brenden Kudlinski (1–0) . . . Face Tigers East in Lakeland, 12 noon today.
