The Philadelphia Phillies jerseys for the first two Players’ Weekends have been divisive. In 2017, the Phillies donned a cream v-necked jersey with red sleeves. A year later, the Phillies returned with another v-necked jersey, this time with red as the primary color and sky-blue sleeves.

For the third annual Players’ Weekend, one thing is for sure – these jerseys probably won’t be divisive. Early reviews on the 2019 template haven’t been especially kind.

Rather than featuring all different colors of the rainbow, MLB revealed 2019’s Players’ Weekend jerseys Tuesday, which Chris Creamer of SportsLogos.net notes are either monochromatic white or black:

The Phillies will be in Miami for Players’ Weekend, which will take place on Aug. 23-Aug. 25 in 2019. Even though the roof is typically closed at Marlins Park, the idea of wearing an all-black jersey isn’t especially appealing – or visually pleasing – so the Marlins, who got to pick which of the two colors they wore, elected to don the all-white jerseys. That leaves the Phillies with black-on-black jerseys with white trim:

In addition to the black jerseys, another perk of Players’ Weekend is that players get to pick a nickname to go on the back of their respective jerseys. Courtesy of NBC Sports Philadelphia
