Every day until Opening Day arrives, Phillies Nation will take a daily look back at a regular season victory from that particular day in history that you can watch in full in lieu of live Phillies baseball. Think of it is as your daily Phillies watch recommendation.
Earth Day 2018 was a particularly fascinating day at the South Philadelphia sports complex. Across the street, the Philadelphia Flyers faced off against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 of the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs opening round. The Phillies were looking for the four-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates on the other side of 11th street. Pittsburgh came out on top on the hockey side but the Phillies were able to take care of business on the diamond, walking off the Pirates in the eleventh thanks to an Andrew Knapp triple and an Aaron Altherr walk-off single.
With that victory, the 2018 Phillies moved to 14-7 on the season and 9-1 at home. Starter Nick Pivetta threw six and a third innings, allowing only two earned runs while striking out seven batters.
