Just one day after getting no-hit by Josh Beckett of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Phillies responded strongly against the Colorado Rockies. Led by cleanup batter Ryan Howard’s five RBIs, the team exploded for nine runs in this game. Howard had three hits, including a two-run home run to right-center field off Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacín. Ben Revere and Chase Utley both had three hits as well.

Phillies starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings, before reliever Mike Adams came into the game and struck out Troy Tulowitzki for the final out of the seventh inning. Antonio Bastardo and Justin De Fratus then pitched a scoreless inning each to secure both the shutout and the win for the Phillies.
