Phillies ace Aaron Nola told reporters via Zoom that he expects to make his first start on Opening Day, which will reportedly be against the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park.
According to Nola, he was exposed to someone who had tested positive for the virus. He was required to stay away from the team from seven days. All of his tests came back negative.
On Saturday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Nola, along with Adam Haseley and Christian Bethancourt were placed on the COVID-19 injured list. That report was modified hours later.
Nola made his first appearance in camp on Monday and threw a bullpen session. So far, Adam Haseley has not yet reported to camp.
In a Zoom meeting with reporters, Joe Girardi said he was impressed with Nola’s bullpen session but did not go as far as naming the 27-year-old as his Opening Day starter.
