On Thursday, Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo told the Toronto media, including Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet that the Phillies-Blue Jays series scheduled for July 31-Aug. 2 has been postponed. Major League Baseball has not made this official yet.
This comes on the same day two Phillies staff members, including one coach and one home clubhouse worker, tested positive for COVID-19. The Phillies will continue to test daily for the foreseeable future. All activities at Citizens Bank Park have been canceled until further notice.
The Jays are currently in D.C. getting ready to take on the Nationals in the finale of a four-game “home-and-home” series. The first two games were scheduled to take place in Washington while the latter two were home games for the Blue Jays that were moved to Nationals Park. The team’s temporary home for the 2020 season, Sahlen Field in Buffalo, is not yet ready for play as lighting upgrades are in the works. They are asking the Nationals for permission to stay in D.C. for the weekend for workouts.
