Phillies reportedly scheduled to make up 4-game set against Yankees next week

The chaos continues.

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone told the New York media, including Marly Rivera of ESPN, that the Yankees and Phillies are scheduled to play against each other from Monday, Aug. 3 through Thursday, Aug. 6. The first two games will be held at Yankee Stadium while the final two are scheduled to be played at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies were originally scheduled to play against the Marlins in Miami from Aug. 4 through Aug. 6 with a day off the Monday before. It’s unclear so far if those three games against the Marlins will be made up at a later time.

On the other side, the Yankees were originally scheduled to play the Baltimore Orioles from Aug. 3 through the 5th at Camden Yards. The two sides will instead play two of those games today and tomorrow. The Yankees were also scheduled to begin a four-game weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field on Aug. 6. Rivera also reported that the four-game series between the Rays and Yankees could include a doubleheader.

In a Wednesday afternoon Zoom meeting with reporters, general manager Matt Klentak said this before Boone met with New York reporters: “There are still questions about next week’s schedule. The league is managing that process but I think it is very possible that we will have a different opponent next week.”
