The Philadelphia Phillies appear to be opening up the 2020 season at the end of the month against a division opponent.
According to Craig Mish of SportsGrid, the Phillies will take on the Miami Marlins on July 24. This first game of the season will be played at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
This opening game against the Marlins will be the first of 60 regular season games for the Phillies after the COVID-19 pandemic led to a delayed and shortened Major League Baseball season being planned. The full schedule will be released on Monday, Mish said.
The Phillies will begin with a Miami team that gave them problems last season. In 2019, they went 9-10 against the Marlins, who finished with a 57-105 record.
After playing the Atlanta Braves at home to start last season, 2020 will be the second straight year that the Phillies will play at Citizens Bank Park on Opening Day.
