Tuesday’s Yankees-Phillies game postponed
According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Tuesday’s game between the Yankees and Phillies at Citizens Bank Park has been postponed.
Monday’s game was also postponed after 11 Marlins players and two coaches tested positive for COVID-19 while in Philadelphia for the opening series of the season against the Phillies. The Marlins were scheduled to open their home slate against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, but that game, along with today’s matchup, has been postponed as well.
Before Sunday’s finale, the Marlins knew of four positive tests amongst players but decided to play amidst the league deciding not to intervene. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, four additional Marlins players tested positive on Tuesday, bringing the total number of Miami players to test positive for the coronavirus to 15.
The Yankees, who were staying in a hotel in Center City, are set to return to New York and practice at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night, per Sherman.
NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Jim Salisbury reported that the Phillies are planning to travel to New York via bus tomorrow for their scheduled matchup against the Yankees on Wednesday.
