UPDATED: According to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Matt Breen, the Phillies did not place Aaron Nola, Christian Bethancourt and Adam Haseley on the COVID-19 list. Instead, the Phillies are keeping the three away from the team because of COVID-19 protocols.
This comes after manager Joe Girardi telling the collective media, following today’s team workout, that he could not comment on the status of the three absent players.
Though Nola, Haseley and Bethancourt were not added to the list, they either could have contracted COVID-19, showing symptoms of COVID-19 or have had close contact with another individual that has tested positive has resulted in their absence from the team.
Under the MLB Health and Saftey protocol for this year, when a player tests positive, he must quarantine for two weeks, show no symptoms and test negative twice within a 24-hour period before he is cleared to return.
Scott Kingery, Ranger Suarez, Tommy Hunter and Hector Neris were all added to the COVID-19 list on July 1.
