Another chapter of chaos has been added to the long-awaited Phillies-Yankees series, though this time it has nothing to do with COVID-19.
The Phillies announced that tomorrow’s scheduled Phillies-Yankees game at Yankee Stadium has been postponed due to Tropical Storm Isaias.
Tuesday’s game will be made up as part of a straight doubleheader on Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park. The Yankees will serve as the home team in the first game, which is scheduled to start at 4:05 pm ET. The second game will take place 35 minutes after the completion of the first.
It will just be the second time in franchise history that the Phillies will serve as the away team at home. It first happened back in June of 2010 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Wednesday’s doubleheader will consist of two seven-inning games per Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association’s agreement on July 30. If the game is tied after seven innings, each team will have a runner on second base starting in the eighth inning.
