The Los Angeles Angels have signed former Phillies utility man Phil Gosselin to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

Gosselin’s journeyman career will now take him to his seventh major league team in seven years. His résumé includes playing time with the Braves, Diamondbacks, Pirates, Rangers, Reds and his hometown Phillies.

The Malvern Prep graduate spent two seasons as a bench bat for the Phillies. He slashed .262/.294/.308 in 65 at-bats in 2019 and despite playing 78 games at Triple-A, accumulated more at-bats as a pinch-hitter than any other player on the team. He went 10-for-32 in pinch-hit opportunities that season.

Gosselin re-signed with the Phillies on a minor-league deal in 2020. With a bench spot up for grabs, Gosselin went on an absolute tear during summer camp. He won one of the final spots on the 30-man Opening Day rosters and hit two home runs in a 7-1 win against the Marlins on July 25. It marked his first home run in over two years as well as his first career multi-home run game.
