J.T. Realmuto was back in Joe Girardi’s lineup for the first time this spring on Tuesday.

Simply put, it didn’t take the two-time All-Star long to make his presence known.

In his first at-bat in a Grapefruit League game this year, Realmuto quickly put any lingering concerns about his right thumb to bed, launching a solo home run:

You don’t want to make too much about one at-bat, but the fact that the 30-year-old homered in his first plate appearance this spring gives you a pretty good feeling that he’ll be in the lineup when the Phillies host the Atlanta Braves on April 1 to begin the season.

Acquired in a blockbuster deal with the Miami Marlins in February of 2019, Realmuto re-signed with the Phillies this offseason for five years and $115.5 million.
