Charlie Manuel, Larry Bowa teaming up to host new weekly show
Two of the most popular figures in Philadelphia Phillies history are coming together on a new weekly show.
Charlie Manuel and Larry Bowa will be part of a weekly Phillies show called “Down the Line with Charlie & Bo” on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Sam Wilson – co host of the Eagles podcast “Babes on Broad” – will be the host of the show. Former SportsRadio 94 WIP marketing director Cindy Webster is also working in a freelance role doing marketing for the show.
The show is slated to entail Manuel and Bowa “sharing unique stories and insights, interacting with fans, visiting various sites and having conversations with people they’ve played with and friends they’ve known through the years.”
“Down the Line with Charlie & Bo” will have its debut episode May 29 at 12 p.m. ET. After that, the half-hour program is expected to air after the Phillies Saturday game concludes each week.
Bowa was a five-time All-Star as a player, spending the first 12 years of his 16-year playing career with the Phillies. He, of course, was part of the 1980 team that won the first World Series title in franchise history. Since his playing career concluded, Bowa has served as the third base coach, manager and bench coach for the Phillies, among other positions in the sport. The 75-year-old is currently a senior advisor to the general manager.
Manuel, 77, is also a senior advisor to the general manager. The winningest manager in franchise history guided the Phillies to two National League pennants and a World Series title in 2008. Manuel briefly returned as the team’s hitting coach late in the 2019 season.
