Phillies minor-league affiliates finalize rosters ahead of opening day

For the first time in two seasons, Philadelphia Phillies prospects will get to play in a minor-league season. On Monday, the levels they’ll be playing at were finalized.

The Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Double-A Reading Fightin Phils, High-A Jersey Shore BlueClaws and Low-A Clearwater Threshers have all announced their rosters ahead of Tuesday’s opening day.

Top prospect and right-handed pitcher Spencer Howard and former No. 1 pick Mickey Moniak will headline the Lehigh Valley roster. The full roster can be seen here:

Right-handed pitching prospect Francisco Morales will make the jump to Double-A as one of Reading’s most prominent players. Former No. 1 overall pick Mark Appel will also be in Reading. The full Fightin Phils roster can be seen here:

Jersey Shore will have strong pitching in its first season as the organization’s High-A affiliate, along with former first-round pick Bryson Stott. Its full roster can be seen here:

2021 first rounder Mick Abel and third rounder Casey Martin will make their professional debuts in Low-A Clearwater. Johan Rojas and Luis Garcia will also be in Clearwater. The full Threshers roster can be seen here:

Each team will be playing its first season since 2019. The 120-game minor-league season will last from this week until mid-September.
