At this point, it’s pretty safe to say Jean Segura sees Boston Red Sox lefty Martín Pérez quite well.
The Phillies second baseman cranked a two-run shot to deep left center field against Pérez in Friday’s series opener at Citizens Bank Park. The game-tying blast traveled 433 feet, Segura’s longest home run in a Phillies uniform.
It was Segura’s fourth-longest home run since the Statcast era began in 2015. The fifth-longest? A 428-foot big fly on Aug. 13, 2017, which came against none other than Martín Pérez when Segura was a Seattle Mariner and Pérez a Texas Ranger.
Segura’s 109-mph blast was his third homer of the season. It came as the second leg of a two-out rally that began with an Andrew McCutchen double and tied the game at 2-2 after the Phillies had fallen behind in the first inning.
