Prior to Sunday’s game, the Phillies placed right-handed pitcher Aaron Nola, third baseman Alec Bohm, right-handed pitcher Connor Brogdon and left-handed pitcher Bailey Falter on the COVID-IL.
Nola will miss his scheduled start against Boston. It’s his first stint on the IL since 2017.
In a corresponding move, the Phillies have recalled left-handed pitcher Damon Jones, right-handed pitcher Mauricio Llovera, infielder Nick Maton and left-handed pitcher Cristopher Sánchez from Lehigh Valley.
Bohm was removed in the eighth inning of Saturday’s game due to COVID protocols.
Brandon Kintzler will start Sunday’s game as an opener.
The Phillies are not among the 23 teams to have reached the 85 percent vaccination threshold needed for relaxed COVID-19 protocols. Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to go on the COVID-19 injured list if they come in close contact with someone who tested positive.
Matt Gelb and Scott Lauber are reporting that Bohm tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss 10 days. Nola, Falter and Brogdon are all out due to contact tracing.
