J.T. Realmuto got the National League on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning during Tuesday evening’s All-Star Game. In the process, the three-time All-Star ended an unfortunate streak for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Realmuto’s home run off of Detroit Tigers lefty Gregory Soto marked the first All-Star Game home run hit by a Phillie since Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt in 1981:
Zack Wheeler – the other Phillies All-Star – didn’t get in the game until there were two outs in the top of the ninth inning. In his first All-Star Game appearance, the 31-year-old needed just three pitches to strike out Matt Olson:
