A pair of Philadelphia Phillies prospects showcased a spectacular pitching performance in the latest week of the minor-league season.

High-A Jersey Shore BlueClaws pitchers Tyler McKay and Manuel Silva combined for nine no-hit innings against the Hudson Valley Renegades on Saturday in a 2-0, 12-inning victory.

The BlueClaws are now 40-49 on the 2021 season; the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs are 41-46; the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils are 34-56; the Low-A Clearwater Threshers are 39-45; the Florida Complex League Phillies entered Monday at 12-7.

McKay, Silva shut down Hudson Valley

The right-hander McKay started the game for Jersey Shore and pitched perfectly. He tossed six innings, retiring all 18 batters he faced before handing the ball off to Silva.

Silva walked the first batter he faced, but recovered to throw three hitless inning, sending a scoreless game into extras.

The Renegades finally got a hit in the 10th inning, but the BlueClaws got the last laugh as Herbert Iser hit a go-ahead RBI triple in the top of the 12th and came around to score on a Jose Tortolero single.

Sánchez deals for Lehigh Valley

Left-hander Cristopher Sánchez, back down in the minors, had an excellent week as the IronPigs visited Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

He started Tuesday, going five scoreless innings against the RailRiders in an 8-1 win. He allowed just two hits and struck out five batters.

On Sunday, Sánchez appeared in relief and gave Lehigh Valley 4 1/3 innings of one-run baseball out of the bullpen in a 5-4 victory. He earned the win in both games.

Domínguez struggles in Double-A

Reliever Seranthony Domínguez continued his rehab for Reading, but ran into some trouble at the higher level.

Although the Fightins defense didn’t help him by allowing a double to drop that probably shouldn’t have, Domínguez surrendered four earned runs in 2/3 of an inning in his first outing in Reading on Thursday. He allowed the first run to score on an strikeout/wild pitch and the others on back-to-back home runs.

Sunday wasn’t much better as the right-hander gave up two more home runs, allowing three runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Wilson hits first pro homer

Phillies 2021 second rounder Ethan Wilson hit the first professional home run of his career on Saturday for the Threshers after joining the team earlier in the week.

His eight-inning solo homer tied the game at 3-3 before Clearwater ultimately fell to Tampa 4-3.

The 21-year-old outfielder has played four games in Single-A, going 4-for-15 at the plate.
