The Philadelphia Phillies are scheduled to open their spring training schedule on Feb. 26, 2022 on the road against the New York Yankees in Tampa. The following day, Feb. 27, will see the Phillies at BayCare Ballpark for the home opener against the Twins.
Though 2021’s pod schedule that saw them play plenty of games against the Blue Jays, Yankees and Tigers will not be in effect, the Phillies play against their usual spring training foes in 2022. Their schedule features the Yankees (six games), Twins (two games), Blue Jays (seven games), Red Sox (two games), Tigers (four games), Orioles (four games), Braves (two games), Rays (four games) and Pirates (three games).
The annual St. Patrick’s Day game in Clearwater will take place on March 17 vs. the Baltimore Orioles.
The Phillies will end their spring training campaign at Tropicana Field against the Rays, just 17 miles away from their Clearwater complex on March 29. It will be their first exhibition game at an MLB ballpark, excluding 2020, since the “On-Deck Series” ended in 2016.
Here is the full 2022 spring training schedule. It should be noted that the league revised the 2021 schedule in early February to accommodate pod scheduling. Collective bargaining negotiations could also lead to changes in the spring training schedule. The current CBA expires on Dec. 1, 2021 and it would not surprise anyone if negotiations stretched into February or March.
