Phillies prospect Bryson Stott promoted to Triple-A in bevy of moves for Lehigh Valley
A youth movement is making its way to Lehigh Valley after the Philadelphia Phillies made a number of moves within their minor-league system.
Top prospects in infielder Bryson Stott, catcher Logan O’Hoppe, right-hander Francisco Morales and outfielder Símon Muzziotti were promoted to Triple-A for the first time in their careers on Wednesday.
Reliever Brian Marconi was also sent to Triple-A for the first time. Right-hander Hans Crouse, left-hander Kyle Dohy, infielder Dalton Guthrie and veteran right-hander David Paulino were assigned to the IronPigs again after spending time with them earlier in the season.
Each of these players had been with the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils, whose season ended on Sunday. Their promotions will allow them to continue to see action for the next two weeks, as Lehigh Valley’s schedule comes to an end on Sunday, Oct. 3.
To make room for all the additions, several veterans were removed from the IronPigs roster. Catcher Logan Moore, right-hander Zach McAllister and left-hander Tyler Alexander were released by the Phillies, while outfielder Charlie Tilson and infielder T.J. Rivera were placed on the developmental list.
Two younger players were sent down from Triple-A as well. Infielder Sal Gozzo, who’s bounced all around the system this season, was assigned to High-A Jersey Shore, and left-hander Josh Hendrickson was assigned to Double-A.
Another player making his return to the IronPigs, left-hander Damon Jones was sent down to Triple-A from the majors after outfielder Travis Jankowski was activated from the 10-day injured list.
