Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper made himself some additional money during MLB awards season.

In the third year of his 13-year/$330 million deal, Harper collected a base salary of $26 million.

Earlier this month, he earned an additional $50,000 by winning the Silver Slugger Award for National League right fielders. Harper’s deal also includes $50,000 bonuses if he wins a Gold Glove Award, makes an All-Star team or is the NLCS MVP.

He triggered an even larger bonus in his contract by winning the NL MVP Thursday, with Bob Nightengale of USA Today noting that Harper’s contract stipulates that he gets an extra $500,000 for coming in first place for the senior circuit’s most coveted award.

The difference in first and second place for Harper was quite drastic. Had his former teammate Juan Soto won the MVP and Harper finished in second, he would have received a $50,000 bonus, rather than the $500,000 he got for finishing first. A third place finish for Harper in NL MVP voting would allow him to earn an additional $25,000.

If Harper ever wins the World Series MVP, he’ll earn a $100,000 bonus.

Now 29, Harper is slated to make $26 million in 2022. He has 10 years and $248 million remaining on the largest contract in franchise history.
