A trailer for the upcoming installment of MLB The Show featured a familiar face.
Ryan Howard has been added to the game’s legends roster for the 2022 installment of MLB The Show. Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Johnson was also in the game’s trailer alongside Howard’s former teammate Jimmy Rollins, who was added as a legend in MLB The Show 20 and is set to return to the game in 2022.
Howard was on the cover of MLB 08: The Show after hitting 105 home runs combined in 2006 and 2007. The 2022 video game version of Howard will most likely include the former Phillies first baseman at the height of his powers.
Shortly after the trailer’s release, MLB Vault posted a video of Howard’s at-bat against Johnson in 2008. Despite being one of the game’s best power hitters at the time, Howard looked overmatched. He went 0-for-3 lifetime against Johnson.
MLB The Show 22 is scheduled to be released on April 5. The Los Angeles Angles’ Shohei Ohtani is this year’s cover athlete.
