The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to a contract with veteran relief pitcher Jeurys Familia, according to Robert Murray of FanSided. The deal, which is pending a physical, was confirmed by Jon Heyman of Audacy Sports.

Mike Puma of The New York Post says that Familia’s deal is for one year and $6 million, with incentives that can make it worth up to $7 million.

Familia just completed his second stint with the division-rival New York Mets, pitching to a 4.62 ERA and 4.69 FIP during a three-year/$30 million deal. Evidently, the Phillies believe that they can get something out of the 32-year-old that he hasn’t shown in some time.

To his credit, Familia recorded 94 saves between 2015 and 2016, posting a 2.20 ERA and 2.56 FIP. He was once an excellent reliever. It’s just been a while.

Familia will presumably become a set-up man for Corey Knebel, who the Phillies signed to a one-year/$10 million deal back in late November.
