Final Score: Phillies 9, Rockies 6
The Philadelphia Phillies assembled their team to have an explosive lineup. They haven’t had the results consistently so far this season, but Wednesday afternoon was another example of what’s possible when the team is clicking.
An offensive outburst lifted the Phillies over the Colorado Rockies 9-6 to avoid a three-game series sweep at Coors Field. Nick Castellanos, Alec Bohm, Kyle Schwarber and Johan Camargo all hit home runs in the game.
The runs first came for Philadelphia in the fourth inning. After the Rockies went ahead 2-0 in the first on a two-RBI double by Ryan McMahon, Castellanos blasted a solo shot and Bohm launched a two-run homer to take the lead.
Colorado grabbed the lead again in the fifth, plating two more runs off starter Zach Eflin. But an upper-deck home run from Schwarber evened the score 4-4 half an inning later.
The Phillies put five more runs on the board in the seventh as Schwarber was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Bohm hit a sacrifice fly and Camargo broke the game open with a three-run homer.
The Rockies grabbed two more in the seventh on RBI doubles from C.J. Cron and McMahon, but the Phillies (5-8) held on with room to spare.
