Since 2008, the Philadelphia Phillies have worn their cream alternate uniforms for home games played at Citizens Bank Park. However, they didn’t wear them in Saturday’s victory over the Oakland Athletics, and aren’t in Sunday’s series finale either.
The cream alternates aren’t being phased out, but Phillies executive vice president Dave Buck told Todd Zolecki of MLB.com that Fanatics has yet to deliver the uniforms because they are “backed up.”
The same is true for the Powder Blue throwbacks that the Phillies wear on Thursday games at Citizens Bank Park as part of their #ThrowbackThursday promotion.
It’s unclear when the uniform supplier will be able to get either of the alternate uniforms to the Phillies.
For the first three home games of the season, the Phillies have donned their red pinstripes, which have been their primary home uniforms since 1992.
Presumably, the Phillies will wear their grey road uniforms when they head to Miami next weekend.
Until then, hopefully you like pinstripes.
