The Philadelphia Phillies acquired infielder Daniel Robertson from the Minnesota Twins for cash consideration, according to the Phillies’ transaction log. He is not on the team’s 40-man roster and has been assigned to the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Robertson, 28, was drafted in the first round by the Oakland Athletics in 2012. His best season in the majors came in 2018 with the Tampa Bay Rays, where he slashed .262/.382/.415 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs. He’s played third base, second base and shortstop in the minor leagues this season. In 82 at-bats in 2022, Robertson has a .717 OPS.

The move addresses the lack of infield depth within the organization with injuries to Johan Camargo, Nick Maton and Jean Segura. Camargo is currently rehabbing in Lehigh Valley while Maton is in Clearwater and should begin a rehab assignment soon. Segura will be out until late August- September with a broken hand.

After Sunday’s game, the Phillies optioned right-hander Michael Kelly to comply with the 13-pitcher roster limit that went into effect on Monday, leaving a spot open for Camargo to return from his right knee injury as early as Tuesday.
