Philadelphia Phillies left fielder Kyle Schwarber was voted the National League Player of the Month for June, the team announced Saturday afternoon.
Schwarber slashed .272/.385/.680 with 12 home runs, 27 RBIs, 19 walks and a 1.065 OPS in a month of June that saw the Phillies revive their season, going 19-8. The 1.5 fWAR that Schwarber posted in June was tied with National League MVP candidate Paul Goldschmidt for the fifth-best park in among senior circuit position players over that period.
It’s the second consecutive season that Schwarber won NL Player of the Month in June, as he slashed .280/.362/.760 with 16 home runs, 30 RBIs, 13 walks and a 1.122 OPS for the Washington Nationals during the month in 2021.
Schwarber — who signed a four-year/$79 million deal to join the Phillies in March — will enter play Saturday with a National League-leading 23 home runs on the season.
