The Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs game Friday evening will be broadcast exclusively on Apple TV+, but you won’t be required to make any additional payments to watch the first game after the All-Star Break.
Instead, you’ll simply need to download the Apple TV+ app to your television or the device that you intend to watch the telecast on. If you already have an Apple ID that you use for your iPhone or Mac computer, you will just need to enter that information to watch Friday Night Baseball. If not, you can create an Apple ID for free.
This will mark the first time that the Phillies have played on Friday Night Baseball, a feature that’s new for the 2022 season. The broadcast crew for the game will consist of Melanie Newman as the play-by-play announcer, with Russell Dorsey and Chris Young as the analysts and Taylor McGregor as the dugout reporter.
Friday’s game — which will start at the typical 7:05 p.m. ET time — will still be available to listen to on radio with Scott Franzke on the call for SportsRadio 94 WIP. Oscar Budejen will lead the Spanish radio broadcast on WTTM 1680.
The Phillies will return to NBC Sports Philadelphia on Saturday, but that will be the lone game that Tom McCarthy and the traditional television team broadcast in the first series of the second half of the season.
The final game of the three-game set will be broadcast exclusively on Peacock, which you will need to pay $4.99 for a subscription to watch. For those who have cable subscriptions with Xfinity, the premium version of the service is included in your bundle. The game — which will begin at 12:05 p.m. ET — will be the second time that the Phillies have played on MLB Sunday Leadoff in 2022. The Phillies previously played their Father’s Day game against the Washington Nationals on Peacock.
