The Philadelphia Phillies released their 2023 schedule Wednesday. Here are some of the most notable items from next year’s slate of games.
Phillies Set To Open On The Road
The first six games of the Phillies schedule in 2022 are on the road. Opening Day is March 30 at Globe Life Field. The Phillies will have off on March 31, before playing two more games in Arlington. They’ll head to Yankee Stadium after that for a three-game series.
20th Season At Citizens Bank Park Will Kick Off Just Like First One Did
The Phillies will welcome the Cincinnati Reds to Philadelphia for their home opener on April 6. It will mark the first game during the 20th season at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies played the first six games on the road in 2004, before returning to open their new stadium against … the Reds. The Phillies lost 4-1 to the Reds on April 12, 2004, the first regular season game at Citizens Bank Park. The first hit was a Bobby Abreu home run.
No Trip To Camden Yet Again
Phillies fans who like to travel to Camden Yards to watch the team play will be disappointed, as the Phillies won’t play in one of the most beautiful stadiums in baseball for the fifth season in a row. July 12, 2018 was the last time that the Phillies played in Baltimore. The Phillies will host the Orioles for a three-game series July 24-26.
Phillies Will Face Every Team, Travel To Some Rarely Visited Parks
Beginning in 2023, every MLB team will play at least one series against all 29 other clubs. That means that the Phillies will travel to some stadiums they don’t regularly visit, such as Globe Life Field (Rangers), Minute Maid Park (Astros), Guaranteed Rate Field (White Sox), RingCentral Coliseum (Athletics), Progressive Field (Guardians) and Rogers Centre (Blue Jays).
Regular Season Will Wrap Up In Flushing
While the regular season won’t conclude at Citizens Bank Park, it will only take a quick trip up to Flushing for the finale three games of the season at Citi Field, Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
