The Philadelphia Phillies may have avoided disaster with center fielder Brandon Marsh.
Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer says that the “preliminary indication is that Marsh may have suffered a bone bruise.” The Phillies are awaiting the results of an MRI on his right knee to confirm that.
Marsh exited Tuesday evening’s win in Cincinnati in the bottom of the third inning after injuring his right knee when he landed following a failed attempt to rob a Jonathan India home run:
Matt Vierling shifted from left field to center field when Marsh exited the game, with Nick Maton coming on to play left field. Maton, who had no experience at any outfield position in the majors, fared well in left field and could very well play there in the series finale tomorrow. Thomson, per Lauber, said that the team doesn’t anticipate making a roster move before Wednesday afternoon’s game.
