Final Score: Phillies 11, Reds 4
The Phillies have finally won their 10,000th victory after 140 seasons in the Major Leagues. On Tuesday, aided by great hitting from the middle of the lineup, Philadelphia hit five homers en route to their milestone win over the Cincinnati Reds.
The Phillies struck first in the third inning, when Darick Hall and Nick Castellanos hit back-to-back homers to put Philadelphia up 2-0.
In the bottom of the inning, Kyle Gibson, who had been cruising with five strikeouts already, gave up a two-out two-run home run to Jake Fraley and then promptly a solo shot to Jonathan India. Brandon Marsh injured himself trying to make a play on India’s homer and was taken out of the game. Nick Maton, who had never played in the outfield in the Majors, came in to replace Marsh and play left field.
In the fourth inning, Maton hit a single his first time up and a Matt Vierling base hit put runners on first and third. Rhys Hoskins then hit a 366-foot home run to retake the lead for the Phillies, 5-3.
The Phillies added an insurance run in the fifth inning when Vierling drove Castellanos in with a sacrifice fly to make it 6-3.
In the bottom of the sixth, Maton, the emergency left fielder, made an incredible diving catch to steal a hit away from Albert Almora Jr. to end the inning.
In the top of the eighth inning, Hoskins hit his second homer of the night off of Reds reliever Reiver Sanmartin to put an exclamation mark on the night.
In the top of the ninth, Garrett Stubbs added to the lead with a three-run homer to make it an 11-3 game.
Nick Nelson came into the game to finish the game off. Although he gave up a two-out run, Nelson was able to get the final out of the 10,000th victory for the Phillies.

There is a reason Zeuch has a 13.50 ERA on the season and the Phillies batters found it. They took it to the 27-year-old righthander and hit three homers off of him.
Kyle Gibson: 6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 11 K, 92 pitches
Gibson looked comfortable most of the night, striking out 11 Reds en route to another quality start. The Phillies offense helped him out too with tremendous run support.
