Seranthony Domínguez was not available out of the bullpen Saturday due to right triceps tightness, interim manager Rob Thomson told reporters after the Phillies’ 4-1 win against the Mets in game two of a doubleheader.

The team got a sense that Domínguez would be unavailable on Saturday at around 11:30 a.m. after the Phillies reliever played catch in the outfield before game one. As a result, David Robertson was tasked with securing a six-out save in the nightcap. It was evident that something was up with Domínguez when he didn’t pitch the ninth after last appearing in a game on Wednesday.

Domínguez told the media, including NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Jim Salisbury, that he plans to undergo an MRI in the coming days. The team will know more about the injury on Sunday and could provide an update before first pitch.

Domínguez has established himself as the ace of the Phillies bullpen in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. He has compiled a 1.64 ERA in 44 innings this season. Losing Domínguez would be a major blow for a Phillies roster that has been crushed by injuries in recent weeks. A combination of Robertson, José Alvarado, Brad Hand and Connor Brogdon will have to step up at the back end in the event of a Domínguez injured list stint.

In other Phillies injury news, Thomson also alluded to a lingering issue that Alec Bohm may be dealing with during his second postgame session of the day. Bohm, who was noticeably slower running down the line in an eighth inning at-bat in game one, is dealing with a little bit of right quad tightness. Thomson says he’s OK and doesn’t anticipate the issue affecting his availability for Sunday’s game.

“It’s just a little tight, that’s all,” Thomson said. “That’s why you see him looking down on the bench and stretching it out.”
