For the second straight weekend, the broadcast booths for the Philadelphia Phillies will look a little bit different than usual.
Tom McCarthy will be the play-by-play announcer on NBC Sports Philadelphia for Friday evening’s series opener in Atlanta. But McCarthy will be out of the Phillies booth on Saturday and Sunday, when he’ll call the Indianapolis Colts-Jacksonville Jaguars game alongside Tiki Barber on CBS.
For Saturday and Sunday’s games at Truist Park, Scott Franzke will shift from the radio booth to TV, set to do play-by-play for NBC Sports Philadelphia. Ben Davis will serve as the color commentator.
Meanwhile, Pat McCarthy will again be recalled this weekend from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he’s the play-by-play announcer for the IronPigs. Pat and Michael Bourn will have the radio broadcasts on SportsRadio 94 WIP on Saturday and Sunday.
Tom told Phillies Nation Wednesday that this is the final time that he’ll leave the Phillies to call an NFL game during the regular season. He had been scheduled to work a game in Week 4, but won’t do that because by Sept. 29, the Phillies could be in a position to clinch their first playoff appearance since 2011.
