SAN DIEGO — The Phillies have released the club’s 26-man National League Championship roster. David Robertson, who missed the NLDS with a calf injury, is on the roster.
Manager Rob Thomson called Robertson’s quick recovery from the injury “miraculous.” He suffered the injury while celebrating Bryce Harper’s home run in Game 2 of the National League Wild Card Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
“I wouldn’t have expected he’s at where he’s at,” Thomson said Monday.
Robertson’s inclusion means the Phillies will have another right handed option at the back end of the bullpen. With a seven-game series and no off days between Games 5 and 6, the Phillies will need just about every reliever on the roster to pitch in a big spot.
Including his scoreless outing against the Cardinals in the NLWCS, Robertson has a career 3.03 ERA across 38 2/3 innings in the postseason. He has pitched in four League Championship Series in his career.
Other than that, not much is different relative to the NLDS roster. Dalton Guthrie gets a bench spot over Nick Maton and Nick Nelson is off the roster with Robertson on.
