Watch: Brandon Marsh hits long three-run home run to give Phillies the lead

With the Phillies planning for a bullpen game, it was important for them to get to Braves starter Charlie Morton early and give the ‘pen a comfortable lead to work with.

They had a great opportunity in the first. With first and third and nobody out, Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto struck out and Nick Castellanos flew out to end the first.

But this has been the theme of the Phillies’ resurgence. Young players at the bottom of the order stepped up during the summer and they are doing the same this postseason.

For the second consecutive game, the No. 9 hitter broke the scoreless tie with a huge hit. Brandon Marsh caught a hanging curveball from Morton and launched it deep into the right field seats for a three-run home run.

Citizens Bank Park is buzzing. If the Phillies hold on to their 3-1 lead, they will clinch a spot in the National League Championship Series for the first time since 2010.
