SAN DIEGO — Bryce Harper is scorching hot.
As the Phillies struggle to get anything going against Padres starter Yu Darvish, Harper broke the scoreless tie with an opposite field solo home run that just carried over the left field wall. The blast quieted a Petco Park crowd that so far hasn’t completely gotten into this game.
Harper is now batting .440 with a 1.521 OPS in the postseason.
On the other side, Zack Wheeler is cruising. He needed 24 pitches to get through the bottom of the first, but after that, he has retired six straight hitters on just 13 pitches.
