J.T. Realmuto wins second career Gold Glove Award

J.T. Realmuto was voted the National League Gold Glove Award winner at catcher, Rawlings announced Monday evening:

It’s the second time that Realmuto has won the award, as he also captured it in 2019, his first season with the Phillies. The 31-year-old posted 11 defensive runs saved in 2022, while throwing out 30 would-be basestealers.

Behind a monster second half, Realmuto finished the season with a .276/.342/.478 slash line, 22 home runs, 84 RBIs, 21 stolen bases, an .815 OPS and a career-high 6.5 WAR, per FanGraphs.

It would be fair to say that 2022 was the best season that Realmuto has had yet, and he seems increasingly likely to go down as the greatest catcher in franchise history.
