The Phillies kicked off their 2023 Grapefruit League schedule Saturday with split squad matchups against the Tigers and Yankees. Brandon Marsh, Alec Bohm and Nick Castellanos were the only regular starters who appeared in the spring openers.
That will change Sunday.
Star shortstop Trea Turner will lead off and play shortstop against the Twins on Sunday in his Phillies Grapefruit League debut. Kyle Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto, Bryson Stott and Castellanos will also start Sunday.
Reliever Andrew Bellatti will pitch the first inning.
Here’s the Phillies’ lineup for Sunday’s game.
- Trea Turner, shortstop
- Kyle Schwarber, designated hitter
- J.T. Realmuto, catcher
- Nick Castellanos, right field
- Bryson Stott, second base
- Johan Rojas, center field
- Jim Haley, first base
- Vimael Machin, third base
- Carlos De La Cruz, left field
Starting Pitcher: Andrew Bellatti
The Phillies’ No. 1 and 2 combo could be a preview of what’s in store to begin the regular season. Thomson has previously mentioned he likes the idea of Turner leading off with Schwarber hitting behind him with Bryce Harper out, but the rest of the order, including the No. 3, 4 and 5 spots, are still a work in progress.
