The Phillies are set to announce their 2023 Opening Day roster on Monday.
Before that happens, some final roster cuts were made.
Infielders Scott Kingery, Jim Haley, Weston Wilson and catchers Aramis Garcia and John Hicks were reassigned to minor league camp.
Infielder Kody Clemens, left-handed pitcher Michael Plassmeyer and right-handed pitchers Luis Ortiz and Erich Uelmen were optioned to minor league camp.
Right hander Yunior Marte and left hander Andrew Vasquez will likely occupy the final two spots in the Phillies bullpen.
Outfielders Dalton Guthrie and Jake Cave will start the season on the bench, barring an outside acquisition. The Phillies could still acquire a right-handed hitting first baseman to platoon with Darick Hall.
Kingery and Clemens are likely to contribute to the big league roster at some point this year. Both performed well in spring, but Kingery is at a disadvantage by not being on the 40-man roster and Clemens is a lefty on a bench that already figures to have Cave and Stubbs.
In 47 Grapefruit League at-bats, Kingery slashed .340/.415/.447 with one home run and four RBIs.
