We’re in the dog days of spring training. The Phillies are having a bullpen game on Sunday. Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, will make their next start somewhere on the backfields of the Carpenter Complex.
There’s not a lot to be excited about at this point in the Grapefruit League schedule.
However, we tend to get a few random batter vs. pitcher matchups that make an afternoon spring training game in the middle of March more of a worthwhile watch.
With his former Phillies teammate Nick Pivetta on the mound and Jorge Alfaro catching, Rhys Hoskins drilled a no doubter to left field to give the Phillies an early 1-0 lead against the Red Sox. All three played together on the Phillies from 2017 to 2018:
The Phillies first baseman has three home runs so far this spring. Bryson Stott, Nick Castellanos and Edmundo Sosa are the other Phillies regulars in the lineup for Sunday’s game.
