Bryce Harper was slated to have a follow-up visit with Neal ElAttrache Monday in Los Angeles. Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson won’t meet with the media until 8:05 p.m. ET Monday, at which point there will likely be an official update on how the appointment went.
But an Instagram post from Harper Monday afternoon suggests that he received clearance to slide, the last hurdle he needed to clear before returning to the lineup for the Phillies:
Harper underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow on Nov. 23, at which point the Phillies said that the plan was for the two-time NL MVP to be back by the All-Stark Break. That projection was likely purposely conservative and vague. But if Harper is indeed back this week, that would mean that he beat even the most optimistic timeline.
