Shane Victorino is back in uniform … sort of.
The Flyin’ Hawaiian recently made a guest appearance with the viral sensation Savannah Bananas during the team’s recent tour stop in Las Vegas.
He came up to the plate to the tune of “Three Little Birds” in a “walk-off” situation and lined the first pitch he saw into left field to cap off a Bananas win.
Victorino said he had not seen live pitching since 2016, but it looks like he still has that clutch in him.
If you’re not familiar with the Bananas, they’re a baseball circus act that travel the country to play gimmicky exhibitions. From 2016-2022, they played games in the Coastal Plain League, winning championships in 2016, 2021 and 2022. They recently left the league entirely to focus on their own fun brand of baseball called “Banana Ball.”
Part of the appeal for fans is a chance to see a former big league star suit up in bright yellow. Johnny Damon, Jake Peavy and Bill Lee are just some of the names the Bananas have been able to attract in recent years.
Now all we need to see is Ryan Howard torch a 500-foot home run for the Bananas.
