The Phillies had some special guests at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver A.J. Brown took batting practice with Phillies infield coach Bobby Dickerson.
Brown, a former San Diego Padres 19th round draft pick, hit two home runs during his session. Hurts, who batted left handed, hit some balls into the gap. Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Bryson Stott, Rhys Hoskins and Josh Harrison stopped to chat and watch the two take some swings.
The Eagles have one of the lightest offseason training schedules in the NFL, so there was room for Hurts and Brown to take a couple dozen swings in the cages for fun.
Manager Rob Thomson joked that Brown would hit cleanup in his lineup. Hurts is more of an on-base guy, so he’d bat first.
It was a rare opportunity for Philly athletes from two teams who reached the championship round of their respective sports to meet. Professional athletes are typically fans of athletes from other sports. Stott was able to land autographed baseballs from Hurts and Brown.
The real treat of the day was an appearance by Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro.
