Jim Thome’s daughter to sing ‘God Bless America’ at NLDS Game 3

Perhaps the first iconic moment at Citizens Bank Park came when Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Jim Thome hit his 400th career home run on June 14, 2004.

As Harry Kalas called Thome’s 400th home run, the camera flashed up to a suite where his wife, Andrea, was jumping and pointing her husband out to their young daughter, Lila.

Nearly 20 years later, Mrs. Thome announced on X — the social media platform formerly known as Twitter — that Lila will sing “God Bless America” during the seventh inning stretch of Game 3 of the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday.

Thome spent parts of four seasons of his Hall of Fame career with the Phillies over two stints, from 2003-2005, and then again in 2012. Thome is eighth in MLB history with 612 career home runs, 101 of which came in a Phillies uniform. In 2016, Thome was placed onto the Phillies Wall of Fame, two years before he was elected on the first ballot to Cooperstown.
