The Phillies are promoting IronPigs pitching coach Cesar Ramos to the major league staff.
Ramos will serve as the team’s new bullpen coach, replacing Dave Lundquist.
Ramos, 39, spent the last two seasons as Lehigh Valley’s pitching coach. He was previously the club’s rehab pitching coordinator in 2021 and a player information assistant in 2020.
A former major league reliever, Ramos spent eight years in the majors with the Rays, Padres, Rangers and Angels. Across 346 2/3 innings, Ramos pitched to a 4.02 ERA. He signed a minor league contract with the Phillies in 2017.
The bullpen coach acts as an assistant pitching coach and is tasked with monitoring relievers as they warm up during games.
Ramos will work alongside pitching coach Caleb Cotham and assistant pitching coach/director of pitching development Brian Kaplan.
The only vacancy remaining on the Phillies coaching staff is assistant hitting coach after Jason Camilli was let go at the end of the season.
