The Phillies have NOT signed Joc Pederson

Despite an Instagram post leading some fans to conclude that a deal was in place, the Philadelphia Phillies have not signed veteran slugger Joc Pederson. A team source told Phillies Nation that there’s nothing to Pederson’s post.

You can conclude for yourself what Pederson’s intentions were when he posted a picture of himself with the Phillie Phanatic on Instagram Wednesday morning with the caption “It’s always sunny in Philadelphia” and Calum Scott’s “Dancing On My Own” playing in the background.

Pederson was an 11th-round pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2010 MLB Draft. He spent parts of seven seasons with the Dodgers to begin his career, winning a World Series title with the team during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

A year later — after a midseason trade from the Chicago Cubs — Pederson helped the Atlanta Braves to win the 2021 World Series. Pederson donned a pearl necklace during Atlanta’s postseason run, hitting three playoff home runs en route to his second consecutive championship.

Pederson has spent the last two seasons with the San Francisco Giants, slashing .255/.351/.470 with 38 home runs, 121 RBIs and an .821 OPS in 255 games.

It’s unclear what the future holds for the 31-year-old, but there’s no indication he will be a Phillie in 2024.
