Yoshinobu Yamamoto watch ended as soon as it began.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are signing Yamamoto to a 12-year, $325 million deal. Jack Curry of YES Network first reported Yamamoto signing with the Dodgers while Jeff Passan of ESPN had the details of the contract.

The Dodgers will also pay Yamamoto’s NPB team, the Orix Buffaloes, a $50.6 million posting fee. The total cost of signing Yamamoto is $375.6 million.

Andy Martino of SNY reports that the New York Mets also offered Yamamoto $325 million while the New York Yankees offered $300 million.

An earlier report said the Phillies were a “dark horse” to land Yamamoto, but Martino named the Dodgers and Yankees as the finalists.

The Dodgers have improved considerably this offseason after two consecutive early exits at the hands of the Padres and Diamondbacks. Without accounting for Shohei Ohtani’s massive deferrals, the Dodgers have spent over a billion dollars this offseason on two players, Yamamoto and Ohtani. Los Angeles also traded for and extended Tyler Glasnow.

Rosenthal reports that the deal does not include deferrals. Yamamoto also receives a $50 million signing bonus.

After missing out on Yamamoto, it’s likely the Phillies will turn their attention to adding a reliever and at least one more position player. A Zack Wheeler extension is still a possibility. Discussions could pick up as spring training nears.
