The Philadelphia Phillies are one of four teams — along with the New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals — that are getting City Connect uniforms in 2024, joining the 20 clubs who are already part of the program. And we may now have an idea of what at least the jersey will look like.
Paul Lukas of Uni Watch — typically, the authority on such matters — shared images of an eBay posting that features what may be the City Connect jersey of the Phillies.
Lukas added the qualifier that he hasn’t been able to confirm that this is indeed the CC jersey. Phillies Nation reached out to the team in regards to the potential leaks, but a request for comment wasn’t immediately returned. This story will be updated if the team acknowledges the jersey in any way.
Here are some additional images of the jersey, including a “LOVE” sleeve patch.
We will reserve judgement on the look until A) it is confirmed that this is indeed the City Connect jersey and B) there is a clear look at how the jersey appears with a hat and pants. Clearly, this would deviate from the red, white and blue color scheme of the Phillies, but it would be in line with previous reports from Crossing Broad‘s Kyle Pagan and MLB.com‘s Todd Zolecki that the blue and yellow Philadelphia flag would be the inspiration for the look.
Phillies Nation first reported that the Phillies are indeed ditching their red alternate jerseys in 2024 to comply with Nike’s “4+1” rule. That means that red pinstripes, road grays, alternate creams and throwback powder blues will remain in the rotation, with a to-be-released City Connect serving as the +1. Perhaps this is the first look at a Phillies uniform likely to be in the rotation for at least a few years
