Phillies prospects Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford will be heading to Globe Life Field in Texas for All-Star festivities.
The pair of High-A Jersey Shore teammates were selected to participate in the All-Star Futures Game, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday. Miller and Crawford will be on the roster for the National League team, which will be managed by former Rangers and Phillies infielder Michael Young as the game takes place on July 13.
Miller, a 20-year-old infielder taken in the first round last summer, has had a breakout season in his first year as a professional. The right-handed hitter dominated Low-A Clearwater to earn a promotion to High-A, flashing his potential and advanced approach. He’s had a slow start so far in Jersey Shore, but is still a promising young player. He has six home runs and a .786 OPS in 57 minor-league games this season.
Crawford, son of former major-league All-Star Carl Crawford, was a first rounder in 2022 and made the Futures Game last year as well. The 20-year-old outfielder is an impact player in center field and on the bases. His production has slipped in his second year at High-A with five home runs and a .740 OPS in 64 games, but he does have 24 stolen bases.
The Futures Game is perhaps the highest in-season honor for players across the minor leagues, giving top prospects a chance to face off in a seven-inning exhibition on a national stage. Miller and Crawford will get to showcase their talents as representatives for the Phillies organization.
